Bella Enjoys a Lazy Sunday

March 9th is "Baron Bliss Day." Get ready, kids.

After church yesterday, Tom, Shelley, Angie, and I said goodbye to Rysha and Tyler as they were headed to the airport. It was sad, just like our goodbyes to Bart and Mandy, Bob, Dave and Abby, and other new (but short term) friends, but we're grateful to be in a place where we can meet so many interesting, friendly people.

Next, we were off to the barbecue and bake sale in the Park benefiting Holy Cross School. (Holy Cross Anglican School was founded in 2006 to provide an education to over 425 of the island's poorest children. Don't ask--I just know these things.) We got our food to go, brought it home, and never left the house again!

Shelley made a space for my toys on the bottom shelf of a table in the living room. It looked so cozy, I decided to hop right up there with them. I thought I had lost "Silly Willy" (the green one), but he was just hiding. And, yes, I do know all my toys by name.

For those who were worried we might not have the opportunity here to see movies on the big screen, I assure you, we are fine. (We haven't actually been to the movies here, but we could go if we wanted to.)

The Paradise Theater, San Pedro
Unlike the malls at home, there are only two movies showing at one time, but you can go to both of them for $4.50 USD. The trick is to park your golf cart (assuming you have one!) on the south side of the bridge and walk over it. Otherwise, you have to pay an extra $5.00 USD round trip for the toll, more than the cost of a movie ticket! Fear not--it's a short, and free, walk.

Afternoon Get-Together
Every afternoon there's a get-together at the Yacht Club. (Isn't it fun to even talk like that?) It's a five o'clock bring-your-own everything kind of function, including glassware and snacks. But this coming Tuesday will be the monthly potluck dinner hosted by our upstairs neighbors, Ken and Jennie. They're from New Jersey, but had the foresight to buy their condo when it was new in 1993.  Anyhow, it should be a really great evening with, most importantly, really great treats!

Brag Alert: "Bella in Belize" now has readers in the United States, Belize, Germany, India, United Kingdom, Guatemala, Australia, Russia, Ukraine, Guernsey (that's right, "Guernsey"), Israel, Norway, Bolivia, and the Philippines. Isn't that great? You gotta love the Internet! It makes all the effort of my slow, one-paw typing worthwhile.

Y'all come visit. We'll catch an early movie, then maybe stroll down a palm-lined boulevard. You're gonna love Belize!

  1. How would you go about shipping a golf cart to Belize? Do Ken and Jennie know?
