Bella Does Estel's

Tom carried me yesterday to "Estel's Dine by the Sea" for a late lunch. Lunch was late because somebody got ahold of our credit card information (Shelley thinks she knows where it happened) and went on a spending spree throughout Mexico resulting in a temporary unavailability of funds, then a temporary unavailability of food. Don't worry. As we say here, "All's good, mon."

With the credit card crisis resolved, we stopped by our favorite ATM, then walked over to the beach. First, we stopped at BC's. Okay, that was a mistake. Ten or twelve ex-pats were sitting around drinking and generally being miserable. One lady gave me a dog biscuit--I hate dog biscuits--and tried to jam it in my mouth. I gave a warning growl and she backed off. Bella does not recommend BC's.

"Estel's Dine by the Sea"
We continued further north to Estel's, a great place famous for their breakfast menu. Not to worry, they have a full lunch and dinner menu plus great Key Lime Pie. Tom ordered a Belikin (the local beer) and a cheeseburger, and I ordered a water knowing I would be sharing the cheeseburger. As you can see by the picture, Estel's is dog friendly. Probably any restaurant with sand floors would be dog friendly.

Soon we met Charlie Worthington, the owner. Charlie moved here 24 years ago and bought this beautiful sea front property. He said he hasn't worn long pants, a watch, or shoes since! His wife Estella and son Charlie, Jr. make up the rest of the team. Charlie is happy letting his wife and son cook and clean while he gives local and visiting musicians a performance venue. In fact, a  group was just beginning to warm up, but we had to leave. (Obviously, Tom is still wearing his watch.) By the way, Estel's isn't cheap by any means. A cheeseburger with fries and a Belikin came to just under $10 USD. Not outrageous, but not cheap.

We walked a mile or so toward the house when it started raining. Not a hard rain, but I don't like water on my body. We waited under an awning by a grocery store for the rain to stop, but fortunately Shelley drove by in the golf cart and we went home. (I think you're getting the picture: Tom and I walk; Shelley tools around town in the golf cart.)

Me--Home--Alone
We had to get home to get ready to go to Blue Water Grille for a goodbye dinner with our friends Bart and Mandy who are leaving today to return to Texas. Blue Water is not dog friendly, and I was left at home--alone! Tom, Shelley, Bart, and Mandy took 3 1/2 hours to eat dinner! Crum, I can eat dinner in 3 1/2 seconds. We'll miss you, Bart and Mandy!

All's good, mon. Y'all come visit. We'll skip BC's and the rain, and hang out on the beach listening to music. You're gonna love Belize.

  1. Hi Bella, Sorry Blue Water Grill is not dog friendly but we sure had a great time with Tom and Shelley last night. We did miss your company though, Bella. Tonight we are spending the night in Dallas and will HOPEFULLY catch a flight home in the morning. It turns out that at this very moment in College Station there are thunderstorms, tornados, and flooding. To make it even more interesting the area hit hardest is the Wellborn area where we live. I will let you know tomorrow how this works out. By the way thank Tom and Shelley for their prayers for a smooth flight to Belize City. It was great! However, we bounced all the way from Belize City to DFW where they are also having storms. Talk to you soon, Mandy
